Anna grew up in North Cornwall, and spent much of her childhood playing sports. From a family of keen golfers, (her father was the General Manager at the prestigious St Enodoc Golf Course for many years), the great outdoors and keeping active has always been a huge part of her life. With a strong desire to travel and learn, Anna moved to the US six years ago and worked as a Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer, and has successfully run a boutique gym and studio in Charleston. Now back on home soil, she will be joining Highcliffe each week to work with clients both in class and individually, and we can not wait! Welcome Anna...
Welcome home! How does it feel to be back?
Thank you! Cornwall has always had such a special place in my heart, and after spending the last 6 years living in the states, it feels right to be home.
We’re really excited for you to start teaching Pilates at Highcliffe! What can people expect from your classes?
Thank you! I’m so honored and excited to be in this beautiful space. My teaching style has been described as thoughtful, detail-orientated and encouraging. I pride myself on creating a positive, open and welcoming environment for my clients to show up each session. With gentle guidance, I tailor effective, challenging, well-rounded programs to help my clients move and feel better.
What do you love most about teaching?
Connecting with others, witnessing growth in confidence, and educating those on the importance of exercise on physical and mental wellbeing.
Your work as a Pilates instructor and a personal trainer go hand in hand - what’s your approach to training others?
Alongside life as a personal trainer, becoming a Pilates instructor has provided me with a deeper understanding of the human body, and helped me to identify misalignments and imbalances easily. This, in turn, provides me with the information I need to design tailored programs to every individual. I have a passionate, educated and specific approach to training others, helping them reach their goals as effectively and efficiently as possible.
And what does your current training look like?
With the big move, my current training looks a little different! That being said, I prioritize movement every day, and my week is a good balance of Pilates, strength training, sports and cardio.
Outside of the world of fitness, what else do you enjoy?
I strive to live a balanced lifestyle, prioritizing my health and well-being. Spending time with friends, family, and my dog Parker is so important to me. I take every opportunity I can to be active; playing golf & tennis, surfing, kiteboarding or taking a coastal walk/run. I truly believe movement is medicine.
