For this episode, we head out for a run at dawn. The coast path feels quiet, as it bathes in the morning sun. This is a magic time to find your flow-state, while the rest of the world wakes up.
The stretch of coastline from Daymer to Polzeath is a stone’s throw from Highcliffe, and provides a perfect route of undulating paths and varied scenery. For a more challenging run, head up to Pentire, weaving your way through rocky terrain and open fields, to reach Pentire point for a spectacular view of the bay.
Three routes to try are:
1) Highcliffe to Pentire Point - 7.4km total.
Cross Polzeath beach before facing some steep gradients up and down the cliffs with a stunning view from the headland before you head back.
2) Highcliffe to Daymer Bay - 2.8km total.
A flatter route along the well-established coast path before arriving at the beach at Daymer Bay. Can be extended to Rock by continuing along the beach.
3) If you’re up for a burn - give Bray Hill a whirl. If you go for it, you’ll be short of breath at the top, but it’s worth every step.
These routes are also great for a slower pace, whether you’re walking the dogs or heading for a swim. It’s one of our favourite things, getting out there early to enjoy the magic of the morning.
Padstow, a town best known for its idyllic harbour, fishing heritage and world-class food offerings is just a short ferry ride away.
